Christ’s missional approach was to find a household willing to commit to his kingdom message. With this house as the base, Christ’s followers attempted to reach the entire town and surrounding area. Christ’s original instructions were longer, but in Luke 9:1–9 and 10:1–11, we have compressed versions of those instructions. Luke 9 and 10 tell us that Jesus assigned the twelve and the seventy-two disciples to go from village to village and to enter homes, offering peace to the inhabitants.
